How Audiqueen reads a speech in noise result

Audiqueen detects 3 types of speech in noise results

  • Fixed noise (only one noise level)
  • Fixed signal (only one signal level)
  • Mixed signal and noise levels

A speech point is detected as noise in Audiqueen when it’s being masked in Affinity/Equinox suite (also if masking is at the other ear side).

Only when you start a speech in noise, it will try to retrieve the noise information

Only when all speech points have a masking level, it will identify the result as a speech in noise result

Masking information will also be added, even when this masking level is used as a noise level for the speech point.

How to perform a Speech in noise in Affinity/Equinox Suite:

In this example, we will perform a speech in noise on the right ear with CD1 as input and a Speech noise as noise.

On Channel 1, you select the output you want to use. Here we set it to Phone Right.

Then select the input you want to use. Select the CD1. The Stimuli button will light up light blue.

Now we set channel 2 for Speech noise (SN) with the same output as for Channel 1 (Phone right). We make sure that the settings are put to SIM and that Masking is on (red circles on screenshot). The stimuli button must be highlighted in light blue. Make sure the output and input of channel 1 are still the same.

Depending on the version of your Affinity Suite, you might not be able to turn on masking. If you cannot turn on masking, please be sure that the points you are putting in your speech audiometry result of the Affinity/Equinox Suite are with the correct symbols (triangle).

This feature is not available in the web viewer.
Audiqueen's webviewer displays the results entered in Audiqueen's Workstations.
